The Knack team on web applications, online databases, and beautifully designed products.
We’re thrilled to announce the shiny new Knack status page! You can find it at status.knack.com.
If you ever experience an interruption in service, be sure to check the status page first. As soon as an issue arises, we’ll post about it there, and will then follow up with the resolution, cause, and other relevant details.
Moving forward, we'll also be posting these updates to our dedicated Twitter status page. Follow along at @knackstatus!
We will use these pages to document both widespread and localized issues that we're investigating. However, if you’re having trouble with your app and don’t see a recent update and explanation on the status page, you should reach out directly to support so we can help troubleshoot.
We want to keep our customers informed and up-to-date on anything that could be affecting their experience of Knack, and are excited about how these pages can help us do just that.
Knack makes it possible for you to show summaries of your data by using a list or a table view. When a record has quite a few fields, you can add a link to direct users to another page. In these cases, it is also possible to use an image to link users to another page.
Let’s take for example this real estate listings web app. Users can see summarized info about each property and can further click on the ‘view’ link to see more details about the property.
Showing the ‘view’ link is great, however, it would be nice to click on the image to see more details.Continue reading...
Sharing is caring, and that goes for Knack too! We’re happy to announce our new Refer a Friend program.
In the upper right-hand corner of the Knack Dashboard, you’ll now see a fancy new heart button:
Here at Knack, we take the security of your data very seriously. To help secure data in both the frontend and backend aspects of apps built with Knack, we’re happy to announce the release of some new Security Features for those on a Pro, Corporate, Enterprise, HIPAA or GovCloud plan!Continue reading...
We know that getting your work done requires many different web tools. In fact, the average business uses between 10 and 16 apps, everything from note-taking tools, cloud storage tools, team communication apps, and various to-do lists. Sometimes, it can be a struggle to get them all working in tandem. Now that Knack has 1,000 integrations, you can choose your favorite tools and easily integrate them with Knack.Continue reading...
For most of us here at Knack, remote work is more than just a facet of our company culture — it’s a lifestyle we feel lucky to take part in, one that we treasure and that’s become integral to how we operate. (That being said, we do get together twice a year to bond as a team, hash out big ideas, plan next steps, and compete to see who can drink the most coffee).Continue reading...
I often say that one of my favorite parts about working at Knack is getting to see all of its seemingly infinite use cases. Hearing about a customer who’s using our product in a new way or to a new end is always exciting.
In some cases, such as with RC Recycling, Knack customers have taught me about entire industries I wasn’t previously aware of. My knowledge of construction sites is pretty limited, so talking to Mike about his company, which helps recycle excess concrete, was a window into an industry about which I knew almost nothing. Not only did I get to hear about the real world impact Knack was having on his business, but I got to learn about a whole set of jobs I hadn’t known existed.
With all the diversity of Knack’s customer base, sometimes it seems like the software itself is the only common thread. After all, what else is there linking car dealerships and international nonprofits, fishing companies and NFL teams?
But sometimes Knack’s impact extends beyond the technical or organizational. Since it’s web-based, it offers Mike something he hadn’t previously enjoyed: the option to work from anywhere with an internet connection. This has meant that not only can he take his time getting to the office in the mornings (since he doesn’t have to be there to get started on the day’s tasks), but his new part-time dispatcher, a stay-at-home mom, can work exclusively from her home.
This is a benefit that resonated with me. Knack is an all-remote team, and we value the independence, flexibility, and work-life balance that promotes. In fact, remote life is one of the core tenets of our company culture. Like Mike’s dispatcher, several of our team members have young children at home, and working for a remote company often means more time with family.
The range of Knack customers and utilizations is impressive, and one we love to see play out day after day. Sometimes the need for a robust database tool may be all that these companies have in common, or that we as a team have in common with them.
Other times, though, through a conversation like the one I had with Mike, a shared company value will be brought to light. And those moments are just as exciting as the ones that highlight our differences.

We’re very excited to announce some upgrades to our e-commerce functionality! Accepting payments with your Knack app just got even easier.
Saving Payment Methods
In the past, payments were submitted exclusively via checkout forms where users had to manually enter their payment information each time. Now your app can save a user’s payment method, so future payments are quicker and simpler.
Securely storing payment information in Knack means that users can log in to submit payments at any time, or you can charge their payment method as you complete services:
E-commerce is a great way to set your app up to make donations, purchase tickets, or place orders. Now that user’s payment methods can be saved for future use, activities like online bill pay, submitting invoices, and call-in payment services are easier than ever.Continue reading...
